MDF Slim Shaker Cabinet Door with 1” Wide Frame

Shown here is our slim Shaker cabinet door with 1 inch stiles and rails in unfinished MDF. This style of cabinet door is the modern evolution to the classic Shaker cabinet door. Its narrow, in this case 1 inch wide stiles and rails, are much narrower than the standard Shaker cabinet door frame which is typically 2 1/4” to 2 1/2”.

MDF an Ideal Paint Grade Material For Slim Shaker Doors

Since MDF is a man made material its flat and smooth and very affordable, making it an ideal substrate for this type of door. MDF has no grain and is very stable as opposed to solid wood, thereby making it a great paintable option.

Construction Method Increases Door Stability

We have developed a 5 piece construction method for these cabinet doors to ensure many years of service. Early on thick pieces of MDF were routed out to create the narrow frame look. In removing large amounts of material, this routing process created instability in the MDF panels. Our applied 5 piece construction method doesn’t alter the base panel so the door remains flat as it should be. All doors arrive fully sanded ready for any painted finish you desire to apply to it.
