Shaker Cabinet Door in Clear Maple
Shown here is our Shaker cabinet door in maple, sometimes referred to as “hard rock maple” or “clear maple”. Maple is a very hard hardwood. Has good dimensional stability with excellent resistance to denting and dings. Maple has a straight, close grain with a uniform texture. Nearly white sapwood, sometimes with a reddish tinge and light tannish heartwood. Maple is very hard and can be stained, light stain colors can be applied with relative ease. Staining to a dark finish requires extra steps and materials. In such cases a pre-stain conditioner is recommended to prevent blotching, also gel stains and dye stains can be used to make this process easier. For many dark finishes on maple a glazed finish or toner coats are applied to achieve a dark finish without blotching. Maple also paints excellently and is a great choice for a durable material for painting.
